New snowstorm in the US: Affected states, when will it hit and real time trajectory
The NWS issues two new alerts due to the imminent arrival of another snow storm in the USA. These are the affected states and when it will arrive.
As winter approaches, low temperatures and severe weather are invading more and more states in the country. Given this, the United States National Weather Service (NWS) has issued two new alerts for snow storms for certain parts of the United States, which could cause travel complications in affected states.
States affected by the new snow storm in the USA
According to official information from the NWS, there are currently two blizzard alerts in effect: One for Colorado and another for New Mexico. According to US Weather Service projections, snow accumulation could reach 20 inches in certain regions. The storm is also expected to head east through southern New Mexico, causing some impact in Texas as well.
“A new storm system is expected to move across southern New Mexico and into Texas. Moisture will spread into Colorado with this system, bringing winter weather to Portions of eastern Colorado, mainly near the border,” advised the meteorological service of Pueblo, Colorado, via social media networks.
When will the storm arrive and how long will it last?
Both blizzard alerts will remain in effect until the morning of next Friday, December 15, with the first fall of snow being present since the night of this same Wednesday, December 13. /b> Snowfall is expected to remain constant throughout Thursday.
“A storm system will bring rain and/or snow to much of New Mexico [Wednesday into early Friday]. Significant snows likely across the northern [mountains and northeast New Mexico]. Abundant rain likely across east central and [southeastern New Mexico],” warned NWS of New Mexico via social networks.
The most affected regions
AccuWeather’s chief meteorologist, Tom Kines, in an interview with Newsweek assured that the most affected areas in Colorado will be south of Denver and Pueblo, specifically, the eastern San Juan Mountains and the southern Sangre de Cristo Mountains. At higher elevations snow accumulation of up to 12 inches is expected, while at lower elevations up to 6.
In New Mexico, snowfall will have the greatest impact on Glorieta Masa, the Sangre de Cristo Mountains, Johnson and Bartlett Mesas, as well as Raton Pass. At high elevations snow accumulation of 20 inches is expected, while at low elevations up to 10.
