Pérez Brothers, home appliance experts: “These are the 3 appliances that are ruining your electricity bill”
These three appliances are common in homes, and one of them is misleading because of its small size.
When cold weather arrives, people feel like turning on the heat, spending long hours in the living room, and cooking something warm for dinner. But how much electricity do all these activities really consume? The Pérez brothers, well known on social media for sharing home appliance advice, warn about three household devices that significantly increase electricity usage.
Among the most common appliances in a home, the traditional ceramic cooktop is one of the biggest energy consumers. The owners of several appliance stores and content creators clarify that this warning applies only to traditional ceramic cooktops. Induction cooktops are not included.
Ceramic cooktops are chosen for their seamless, flat surface and are slightly more energy efficient than coil cooktops, but using either of them can lead to a higher electricity bill. For example, induction cooktops transfer between 85% and 90% of their energy to cooking the food compared to around 70% to 80% for ceramic cooktops.
According to the Pérez brothers in one of their videos, ceramic cooktops operate with a heating element of between 5,400 and 5,700 watts, which means it requires a large amount of electricity to function.
The other two appliances
In addition to traditional ceramic cooktops, the Pérez brothers also warn about one of the most common appliances in any household: the oven. This essential kitchen appliance can also make a noticeable difference in electricity costs.
Like ceramic cooktops, ovens also operate using heating elements. In this case, the power ranges between 3,000 and 3,500 watts. Although many modern ovens include an energy saving mode, the experts still advise using them in a moderate and controlled way.
The third appliance they warn about may be the most surprising. It is the portable space heater. Its small size makes it easy to move from room to room, but consumers should not be fooled by its appearance.
These devices consume an average of 2,500 watts and usually lack any energy saving system. “Be very careful when using these three appliances,” one of the content creators warns.
