Perrigo is facing a recall of their infant formula in the United States. This recall is much smaller in scope compared to the one that plagued the infant formula market a few years back and left parents scrambling as store shelves were depleted.

The company issued a voluntary recall after discovering that the formula’s Vitamin D level was above the maximum allowed. Though a health risk, most infants will not be impacted. However, for infants the FDA describes as “physiologically vulnerable infants (e.g., impaired renal function),” consuming Vitimin D at these levels could “result in health complications.”

“There have been no reports of adverse events to date attributed to the elevated levels of Vitamin D in the product subject to this recall, which was determined through routine testing,” reports the FDA.
