An active shooter event in Blue Island, a city just outside of Chicago, at the intersection of Francisco Avenue and W 127th Steet, has reportedly injured three people who were taken to the hospital from the scene on Friday afternoon. However, these reports remain unconfirmed by authorities as the situation unfolds.
Blue Island is just one community across the United States that witnessed a shooting today, marking a dark Friday for those injured and for those who have had loved ones killed.
What we know so far
X user and police scanner enthusiast Mike Pries posted on the social media site around 3:40 p.m. local time that an ambulance was called to the intersection for a “gunshot wound.” The site later given by Pries as to where the shooting is thought to have taken place is Salvation Army, located at 2900 W 127th Street in Blue Island.
Minutes later, he posted that the possible number of injuries was seven, based on reports from a Blue Island police officer who had responded to the science.

The area has been cut off by law enforcement.
For the safety of those at the scene, it is critical to avoid the area until further notice. Mike Pries advised his followers to use 123rd Street or Vermont Street “until further notice.”
