Potential ink contamination sparks recall for this brand of coffee
An announcement on the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) website came after reports that food-safe ink may have leaked into the coffee.

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has confirmed that a recall has been issued after a popular brand of coffee capsules was found to have traces of a food-safe ink.
Manufacturers New Mexico Pinon Coffee have issued a voluntary recall of their Dark Pinon Single Serve Cups, although only a select run of the products is affected.
The FDA website cites the reason for the recall as: "Clear coat seal on the lid of the single serve cups did not get applied consistently to all cups in the production run. This resulted in the food safe ink printing on some cups to run when exposed to high temperature, high-pressure water used in a K-cup machine."
An announcement from New Mexico Pinon Coffee found that, in some instances, the ink had ran into the coffee during that brewing process. It is not thought to pose any real threat but it may have compromised the flavor or the appearance of the product.
The affected product line is the New Mexico Pinon Coffee Dark Pinon Single Serve 10ct Cups, with lot code 251749 and a best by date of 05/08/2026. The product number is F03308 and the UPC number of 812361033081. Customers are advised to return the product to the retailer for a refund.
