President Joe Biden has had to cut short his trip in Las Vegas, Nevada where he was campaigning for the November elections, after testing positive for COVID-19.

Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre assured the public that the president has been both vaccinated and boosted, and that he will return to Delaware to recover from the virus.

The press secretary said the president will self-isolate and will carry out the duties of his office while in isolation.

She said Biden had been experiencing some malaise, a cough, and a runny nose which led to his taking the test.

Although the president will be able to continue managing his responsibilities as leader of the country, he will not be able to campaign on the ground for his re-election bid. This latest development comes amid calls from fellow Democrats for him to withdraw his candidacy. Biden had earlier said that he would step down only if a doctor told him that a medical condition had emerged that he would have to deal with.
