The third Monday in February every year is known as Presidents’ Day, which was first established as a federal holiday back in 1885. This date was chosen to commemorate President George Washington’s birthday and honor all US presidents’ achievements. As a federal holiday, many public services and even some private institutions will be closed on Monday, 19 February 2024.

Will mail services be running on Presidents’ Day?

The United States Postal Service (USPS) observes eleven official federal holidays each year, and Presidents’ Day is one of them.

Physical post offices will be closed for the entire day; however, you can still access some USPS services online, such as ordering stamps, printing shipping labels, and requesting mail supplies. You can visit USPS.com to find out what services are available.

On the other hand, private mail services like UPS and FedEx will remain open on Presidents’ Day, and most of their retail locations will also be open.
