Rapper Aaron Carter dies aged 34
Sources confirm that the musician and actor, whose brother starred in the Backstreet Boys, was found by police in his California home.
Singer Aaron Carter has died at the age of 34. The brother of Nick Carter, lead singer of the Backstreet Boys, was found dead in his home earlier today. At the moment the exact causes of his death are unknown, although they are being investigated.
According to police sources quoted by TMZ, Carter’s body was found in a bathtub in his California home. The source added that an emergency telephone call had been made, with someone reporting that “a man had drowned in the bathtub.”
Carter rose to fame during childhood
He was barely nine years old when Aaron Carter began his solo career, although he had previously performed in a charity project in which his brother’s band had participated. In fact, it was after a concert by the Backstreet Boys that he began to attract the attention of record companies and signed his first contract.
His self-titled debut album was released in 1997, when Carter was aged nine, and sold more than a million copies worldwide. His second album Aaron’s Party (Come Get It) hit stores just three years laters and sold more than three million copies in the US alone
In addition to his facet as a singer, he was also known for his small jobs as an actor. He was part of the cast in children’s television series such as Lizzie McGuire and Sabrina, the Teenage Witch. He also made a feature film in which he played the main character, Popstar, and even took part in one series of Dancing with the stars.
Aaron Carter is survived by his son, Prince.
