Shakira shuts down Tom Cruise dating speculation: The singer has other priorities
Movie star Tom Cruise and musician Shakira were seen together at the Miami Formula 1 Grand Prix and many were quick to speculate about their relationship.
Tom Cruise and Shakira were spotted hanging out together during the Formula 1 Grand Prix in Miami earlier this month, and the internet went crazy speculating about a possible relationship between the two.
After her controversial breakup with former soccer player Gerard Piqué, the singer is single again and many are expected to show interest in the talented musician. One of them is reportedly the “Top Gun” actor.
Tom Cruise ‘giddy’ about Shakira
According to entertainment magazine Heat, Cruise is infatuated with the singer. “Tom was giddy when he met Shakira, and it wasn’t all that dissimilar to how he acted when he first got with Katie Holmes,” sources told the magazine.
“He’s known Shakira loosely for years, but this was his first time hanging out with her in a relaxed setting, and he came away convinced they had a real connection they needed to build on,” per the Heat report.
According to Page Six, the actor was “extremely interested” in pursuing Shakira, so much so that he sent her flowers. However, it appears that Shakira, who at 46 is 14 years younger than the actor, is not interested in dating him.
No spark for Shakira
Us Weekly reports that the Colombian had a great time hanging out with the actor at the F1 race, but a romance is not in the works.
“He was really nice and she enjoyed his company, but she isn’t focused on dating him or anybody else at the moment. She has a lot on her plate and is focused on her kids and career for now,” said the magazine’s source.
Heat reported that Shakira has let her feelings (or lack thereof) be known to Cruise.
“For Shakira, one minute, she was just being friendly and posing for pictures with Tom, the next he was seemingly telling everyone she was his dream woman. It was too much to deal with. Everyone was blowing up Shakira’s phone asking if she was dating Tom.
“She doesn’t want to embarrass or upset him, but there’s no attraction or romance on her part- she was just being friendly. She’s flattered but not interested, and that message has been politely passed back to Tom.”
