Update:

Leaving behind a lifelong job is usually a difficult decision. It is even more challenging when you consider the huge difficulty involved in stepping into the unknown and choosing to invest time and money in a new career different from the one you have been building.

American designer Lindsey Adelman left her office job at the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, D.C. There, she worked as an editorial assistant and was responsible for creating content for catalogs. However, she took the leap into lighting design, one of her great passions and a field where she saw an opportunity to experiment.

CNN reported that it was during the 1990s when Adelman entered this professional field, and the network explains the process in a feature story. “It just really spoke to me,” the designer told the American news channel. The result is a long career that has given her the chance to exhibit her pieces in some of the most prestigious design galleries.

A meeting with a craftsman who was working on a project for a museum exhibition led Adelman to study industrial design and to found her own studio two decades ago. This was a key step in showcasing her work, including lamps whose designs are inspired by abstract art. Many of them are estimated to be worth $92,000.

Many of her pieces use glass and metal finishes to create unique structures. Her work has been displayed not only in the United States but also in galleries in France, according to CNN, including the notable Triode gallery in Paris.
