Through this economic assistance, the federal government grants food aid that is deposited each month into an economic benefits transfer card, which is valid for use in selected stores. The exact amount depends on the situation of each family, as well as the number of family members.
SNAP recertification process
All SNAP recipients need to have their case considered “active” for some time due to the certification period. This means that they must be certified periodically to continue receiving benefits, in a process known as “recertification”.
In the state of Texas, the deadline to re-certify benefits is September 1. In case you need to go through this process, you have the remainder of August to complete it.

Through recertification, state governments keep beneficiary information updated and re-evaluate their situation, thus ensuring that aid reaches those who truly deserve it. This process is also used to make adjustments to the amount of money that is sent each month.
To confirm if you need to follow a recertification process, you must contact the toll-free number for flexible appointments that appears on the H1830-FA form.
“The individual must contact us far enough in the last month of benefits to allow at least 13 days after the interview to ensure that the EDG can be disposed of before the last day of the certification period. This allows two days of mailing time for Form H1020, Request for Information or Action, from the central mail facility and 10 days after the issuance date of Form H1020 for the household to provide the information. If the 10th falls on a non-business day, the due date is the next business day”, reads a statement from the Texas government.
