Snowfall between six and twelve inches has descended on the south-western US. Colorado is the most affected area as it registers the biggest snow storm of the season. The storm started in Utah, moving south east into Arizona, through southern Wyoming, and hit Colorado at noon on Wednesday.
According to projections, the storm is expected to last until the night of Thursday, 14 March. Colorado’s alert extends until Friday.
Denver is the most affected area
Denver is the area that will receive the heaviest snowfall. As Weather.com meteorologist Chris Dolce explained to USA Today, “the heaviest totals will be in the foothills west of downtown and in the Palmer Divide south of [Denver].”
Given the intensity and consistency of the snowfall - the snow is expected to be “heavy, wet and sticky” - experts recommend suspending all road trips to avoid accidents. In fact, the National Weather Service issued a warning for the area, which will be in effect from noon on Wednesday until the night of Friday, 15 March.
