The Social Security Administration is preparing to send October checks to millions of its beneficiaries. Some beneficiaries will receive a maximum payment of $943 on Oct. 1.
Payments are sent out on different dates throughout the month based on a schedule set by the agency. For example, Supplemental Security Income or SSI payments are given out on the first day of each month.
Supplemental Security Income beneficiaries will receive their money on Tuesday, Oct. 1. The maximum SSI payments are $943 for individuals and $1,415 for couples.
The average monthly SSI payment is about $698. People under 18 receive $814 on average, those between 18 and 64 receive $742 per month, and adults 65 and older receive about $574.

Social Security: Complete payment schedule for October
While Supplemental Security Income payments are sent out on the first day of the month, on the third day of each month, the Social Security Administration sends money to people who began receiving their retirement payments before May 1997.
The rest of the Social Security checks are sent on Wednesdays, according to the beneficiaries’ date of birth.
Taking into account the regular schedule of the agency, these are the payment dates for Social Security benefits for October 2024:
Payments are sent via direct deposit to recipients who have shared their bank account details with the Social Security Administration in order to collect their benefits in this way each month. The rest of the recipients receive their money via postal mail in a paper check, which takes longer to arrive.
The last Supplemental Security Income payments of the year will be sent on Friday, Nov. 1; Friday, Nov. 29 (payment for December); and Tuesday, Dec. 31 (payment for January 2025).
