Social Security: When and who collects their retirement and disability payment in November and December
One more Social Security payment is coming in 2023; when will the remaining checks be delivered in November and December? Below are details, dates, & amount
Every month, the Social Security Administration (SSA) issues millions of payments to all beneficiaries for various programs offered by the agency.
Most of them are retired workers and individuals with a disability who receive payments through the Supplemental Security Income (SSI) program.
Delivery dates come on Wednesdays. However, the exact days depend merely on the date of birth of the beneficiaries. Those born between the 1st and 10th receive the check on the second Wednesday of the month, while those with dates of birth between the 11th and 20th receive it on the third Wednesday, and those from 21 to 31 receive theirs on the last Wednesday of the month.
It is worth mentioning that beneficiaries of Supplemental Security Income do not fall under this scheme since they receive payments on the first days of the month.
Social Security: November Payment Dates
Taking into account the payment schedule for this November, only the payment for the 30th remains, which will be sent to the beneficiaries born between the 21st and the 30th of any month.
Social Security: Payment Dates for December
As the last payment of the month is about to arrive, below, we share the exact shipping dates for the next month of December:
When the first day of the month falls on a weekend, the payment for those on the SSI Program is issued the previous Friday, so beneficiaries will also receive their January check 2023, which will come with the 8.7 percent 2023 COLA increase.
Social Security: Amounts
With the 2022 COLA increase, median payments for retired workers were now $1,657 for individuals and $2,753 for couples filing jointly.
By 2023, the average payment will increase to $1,801 per month due to the 8.7 percent COLA increase, while recipients of Supplemental Security Income will see their payments rise from $841 to $914.
