Space X Starship test flight: weather forecast for Friday, launch day at Starbase, Texas
A look at the weather forecast for Space X’s Starship flight test scheduled for Friday, November 17
SpaceX is set to make its second attempt at launching the Starship on Friday, following a failed launch in April. Though the initial launch was successful, the spacecraft’s thrust vector system, which provides direction, malfunctioned, leading engineers to activate the flight termination system.
These issues have been addressed, and the organization hopes the second launch will be successful. On X, Space X sent out a message on the final preparations for the launch, saying that the team had applied “lessons learned” to make “several upgrades to both the vehicle and ground infrastructure to improve the probability of success on future flights.”
“The second flight test will debut a hot-stage separation system and a new electronic Thrust Vector Control (TVC) system for Super Heavy Raptor engines, in addition to reinforcements to the pad foundation and a water-cooled steel flame deflector, among many other enhancements,” reads the company statement.
Weather report for Boca Chica
The launch zone for Space X, called Starbase, is located in Boca Chica, Texas. To ensure a successful launch, engineers closely monitor the weather conditions. According to the current report, the mission is expected to be cleared for Friday’s launch as meteorologists predict a sunny day with a high of 77ºF. If weather conditions remain the same, there is no need to delay the mission.
