States sending checks and refunds in December

The sending of economic aid continues in certain states across the nation. Several are sending one-time tax refunds to their residents, some of more than a thousand dollars. Find out where they will be sent in December, when and how much.

Alabama

Tax refund checks begin to be sent to Alabama residents on December 1.

To be eligible, state taxpayers must have filed a 2021 Individual Income Tax return. The state Department of Taxation must have received it on or before October 17, 2022 to qualify.

The amount of the refund is up to $300 for taxpayers who filed a joint return and $150 for single taxpayers. For those who use direct deposit for their tax refunds, the refunds will go to your bank account. If there is no account on file, the refund will be issued by check and sent via postal mail.

Alaska

The state continues to send the 2023 permanent fund dividend (PFD) of $1,312. Payments for 2023 (and prior year) dividend claims that are in “Eligible-Unpaid” status for the December 6 will be distributed on December 14.
