Target will stop accepting personal checks at checkout: When will it take effect?

Target will stop accepting personal checks as a form of payment in the very near future. Find out when the retailer intends to implement the measure.

The department store chain Target has announced that it will stop accepting personal checks as a form of payment in a matter of days.

In a statement to NBC News, the retailer said it was committed to creating an easy and convenient checkout experience, but that due to “extremely low volumes,” will no longer accept personal checks. The measure comes into force as of July 15.

Although it will no longer accept personal checks as a form of payment when making a purchase, the company will continue to accept cash; digital wallet payments such as Apple Pay and credit and debit cards.

On the other hand, the company also accepts Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) cards, including those from the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP).

Target announces back-to-school discounts

While students and educators still have a fair amount of summer break left, the Minneapolis-based company has announced back-to-school and college savings with ways to save for teachers, parents and students preparing for the school year.

According to a statement shared by the company, they will offer from20 must-have school supplies for under $20, the lowest priced backpack in over 10 years for just $5, and new ways for Target Circle program members to they can save more.

This season, Target is introducing new savings on top items for back-to-school and back-to-college, offering consumers both the style and value they’re looking for. Consumers can shop Target-exclusive brands like Cat & Jack, Art Class, Mondo Llama, Room Essentials and Brightroom, alongside national brand favorites like Crayola, Jansport and more,” the release also notes.

Additionally, the retailer will also offer lower prices on thousands of food and beverage products including bread, peanut butter, produce, lunch box snacks, crackers, fruit snacks, cookies, kids’ drinks and more.
