Update:

Tesla owners have become targets online by those who oppose billionaire Elon Musk’s growing influence within the U.S. government. 404 Media reported earlier this week on the existence of a website called DOGEQUEST, which published personal data of Tesla owners, along with information on dealerships and charging infrastructure. Since Musk has made his power felt through his leadership at the Department of Government Efficiency, Tesla storerooms have become sites of protest.

“DOGEQUEST is the ultimate hub for enthusiasts of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE)!” read the website’s homepage, where the team claimed to offer users an “interactive map of DOGE landmarks” as well as details on Tesla service centers, showrooms, and charging stations.

The site had previously allowed individuals to request the removal of their information, but as of today, it appears to be inaccessible.

NBC News contacted six Tesla owners whose data was published, though some reported that the information was outdated. Some owners also told NBC that they. had purchased their Tesla many years ago, before Elon Musk had made his political ideology so public and developed such a close relationship with the president.

The impact of Musk’s polarizing image on Tesla

FBI Deputy Director Don Bongino addressed the targeting of Tesla and its customers in a post on X, mentioning that some swatting incidents had occurred. However, he did not specify whether individual owners or Tesla facilities were targeted.

The federal government has made clear that they are considering attacks on Tesla as domestic terrorism, given Musk’s close relationship with the Trump administration.

Tesla’s stock has taken a beating since President Trump took office. Compared to its position one year ago, the price is up 34.50%. However, since January 1st, it has lost around close to forty percent of its value. The Guardian, among other outlets, has reported that financial experts, including those who invest in Tesla, are concerned that Musk’s reputation is creating serious challenges for his businesses.
