TGI Friday’s joins the list of franchises that have announced branch closures across the United States. 36 restaurants are closing as part of a “restructuring.”

According to an official statement issued by the restaurant chain, the 36 branches have been closed in the country as part of an “ongoinggrowth strategy.” In addition to the closure of branches, this new strategy also includes a restructuring of the executive team and the sale of some restaurants to the restaurants’ former CEO, Ray Blanchette.

TGI Friday’s financial information is not available to the public so it is difficult to ascertain the data behind the closures.

“Our top priority has always been delivering a superior experience for each and every TGI Fridays guest, and we’ve identified opportunities to optimize and streamline our operations to ensure we are best positioned to meet – and exceed – on that brand promise,” said Ray Risley, US president and chief operating officer, in the release.
