Hundreds of AI-generated fan artworks, signature campaigns, and thousands of social media posts have made one thing clear in recent months: fans of the DC Universe want Adria Arjona to play Diana Prince in the new DCU led by Peter Safran and James Gunn. The 33-year-old Puerto Rican actress has been widely discussed as the top candidate for the still-vacant role, including by Gunn himself, who according to DeuxMoi reportedly has her at the top of his list.

Although the outlet is not especially mainstream, it has frequently been accurate on superhero-related news, particularly involving DC. In fact, DeuxMoi was the first to report that Barry Keoghan and Lady Gaga would appear as Joker and Harley Quinn in Joker: Folie à Deux. According to the site, Gunn is now prioritizing Arjona as a new ‘Wonder Woman’ film begins to take shape, with the screenplay being written by Ana Nogueira, who is also working on a project centered on Supergirl.

Both Gunn and Arjona have previously been asked about the possibility of her casting, especially after Gunn followed the actress on Instagram. “I follow Adria on Instagram, but everybody came out [and thought], ‘He just followed her, that means she’s Wonder Woman,” the director and producer said at the time. “She’d be a great Wonder Woman, by the way. She was in a movie that I made seven years ago,” referring to The Belko Experiment, which Gunn wrote. “We’ve been friends and have known each other since that time. I followed her then, I didn’t just follow her.”

For her part, Arjona said she feels grateful to Gunn because The Belko Experiment marked her film debut, adding, “He gave me my first movie ever... my first studio movie. So I owe him a lot.” When asked whether that Instagram follow meant anything for her chances of playing Wonder Woman, she simply crossed her fingers, making it clear that she would love the role.

Since that first film, Arjona has appeared in several major productions, including Andor, Blink Twice, Hit Man, and Father of the Bride.

What do we know about Paradise Lost?

Paradise Lost was planned as a prequel series set on Themyscira before Diana’s birth. However, reports came out that the project may have been canceled. That claim comes from insider John Rocha, who recently stated: “The project is dead. Paradise Lost is dead. [It] will not be happening as a TV show. And not dead in the sense of like, well, they’re just going to wait for a script.”

That was news to Gunn though who took to social media posting: “Definitely not. Jesus I go on Threads for the first time in weeks and it’s just one insanely wrong thing after the other. What is going on?”
