How could iPhone prices change from 16 to 17?
Based on information compiled by the market research firm TrendForce, the specialist website MacRumors has put together the following forecast for how the price of each iPhone’s lowest-storage model will change:
iPhone 16 prices:
- Basic: from $799 (128 gb)
- Plus: from $899 (128 gb)
- Pro: from $999 (128 gb)
- Pro Max: from $1,199 (256 gb)
iPhone 17 predicted prices:
- Basic: from $799 (128 gb)
- Air: from $1,099 (256 gb)
- Pro: from $1,199 (256 gb)
- Pro Max: from $1,299 (256 gb)
Notably, MacRumors predicts that the iPhone Pro will undergo the highest rise - from $999 to $1,199 - but will boast greater storage at its starting price.
Citing research by analysts at Morgan Stanley, the Apple rumors site 9to5mac also suggests that Apple will discontinue its 128-gigabyte option for the Pro. However, 9to5Mac points to a smaller expected price increase of $100, to $1,009.
Both reports agree that the basic iPhone 17 appears likely to remain at the same price as its generation-16 counterpart.
