The reason why HBSC payments are not working in the UK
HBSC has acknowledged that there is an outage of its website and banking app affecting thousands of customers in the United Kingdom. Here’s what we know.
On Friday morning, HSBC customers in Britain began reporting not being able to use the financial institution’s online banking services to access their money and pay bills.
The bank acknowledged that some customers are being affected by a service outage saying in a statement posted on X, “We’re really sorry that some customers are having issues accessing personal online and mobile banking.” There is currently no reason given for the service issues but said that “our IT teams are working hard to get these services back to normal. You can still authorise online card purchases via SMS.”
In a later post HSBC said that “Customers can now log into personal Online & Mobile Banking,” but that a secondary issue remains. It warned that customers send payment may see a slow response or even a failure notice.
It is recommended that you check with the recipient. You can also try to view recent trransaction on the mobile app. You will need to look for the notifications bell icon in the top right corner before you try sending the payment again. The payment problem appears to be affect several banks according to HSBC.
Over 7,000 customers in the United Kingdom reported service issues with its website and banking app according to data from DownDetector.
