Beer is one of the oldest beverages, and the most widely consumed alcoholic drink in the United States. According to World Population Review, the U.S. is one of the top imbibers of beer in the world, second only to China.

The beverage was valued at $768.55 billion in 2022 in the global market and is expected to reach $996.49 billion by 2030, with a compound annual growth rate of 3.3% during the forecast period, according to data reported by Vantage Market Research.

Per the report, the beer market is growing due to the increase in disposable income, the growing popularity of craft breweries, and the rising number of social drinkers, among other factors. Low-alcohol and non-alcoholic beer are also experiencing a surge in consumption, as younger segments of the market try to live a healthier lifestyle.

What are the best-selling beers in the US?

Bud Light was the number one beer in the United States for more than two decades, but lost its hold after its collaboration with transgender influencer Dylan Mulvaney caused conservative customers to boycott the brand.

The company also suffered backlash from Mulvaney’s supporters, who believed the brand didn’t offer her enough support after the fallout.

Modelo Especial took the place of Bud Light at number one soon after the controversy and has stayed at the top spot, while the Anheuser-Busch brand remains at number two. Michelob Ultra, Coors Light, and Corona Extra round out the top five.
