These are the 12 states that will get hit by snow, ice and below zero temperatures Saturday, Sunday and Monday
A giant storm will bring snow, ice and rain to a large part of the U.S., affecting 62 million people. These areas will be most affected over the weekend.

A massive winter storm extending 1,300 miles across the country is expected to affect up to 62 million people from Saturday to Monday.
The National Weather Service says those in the storm’s path should expect heavy snowfall and perilous icy conditions, as well as torrential rain and strong winds from the weather system that spans the east of the Rocky Mountains through the Mid-Atlantic region.
The NWS predicts the storm will cause heavy snowfall in the northern High Plains and Central Plains by late Saturday, while it will bring icy rain to parts of the middle Mississippi Valley and Ohio Valley on Sunday.
The Midwest could see record snowfall
The weather agency warns of a 60% to 90% chance of at least eight inches of snow on Sunday from central Kansas to Ohio, which could be the heaviest snowfall in over a decade for some areas. Kansas and Missouri in particular could potentially experience up to 14 inches of snow.

Winter Storm Warnings are in effect in at least 12 states, including Kentucky, Indiana, Maryland, West Virginia, Kansas, Montana, Illinois, Iowa, Missouri, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and Nebraska.
The National Weather Service says the areas most affected by the storm should prepare for disruptions, including power outages and tree damage.
The agency recommends putting off non-essential travel, but if it is absolutely necessary, drivers are advised to proceed with extreme caution. Travelers are urged to ensure their vehicles are fitted for winter weather, and to bring along an emergency kit.
The southern part of the storm will be warmer but poses its own dangers by unleashing rain and thunderstorms over most of the South. These storms could develop into severe weather systems, particularly on Sunday afternoon.
