These are the SNAP payment dates in June 2024 in each state
The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program is preparing to begin sending benefits for the month of June. This is the payment schedule in each state.
The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) administers the program at the federal level. However, at the state level, SNAP benefits are distributed and managed by state agencies such as the Department of Social Services or the Department of Human Services.
How are benefits distributed?
These agencies handle the application process, determine eligibility, and oversee the distribution of benefits to eligible individuals and families. Each state has its schedule for delivering the benefits, wherein the Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) cards are reloaded. These cards function as debit cards and can be used at many major supermarket chains, smaller grocers, and some farmer’s markets. Over forty million people benefit from SNAP each month, making it the country’s largest program focused on food assistance.
Each household will be informed of their payment date, and this will not change. This date is carefully determined based on factors like the last digit of their case number or the first letter of their last name, reflecting the program’s consideration for each beneficiary’s unique circumstances. Many states stagger distribution dates throughout the month to avoid overloading retailers and to ensure that benefits are available to recipients evenly throughout the month.
