Los Angeles has long been a dream city for many people around the world, but the recent housing crisis has made it very difficult to find a reasonably priced place to live in. In recent months the number of affordable homes has decreased, but there are still some areas where you can avoid high rental costs.

Annual increases can reach up to 10% depending on the city and the regulations that exist for rent control in California. As residential property owners continue to increase rental rates for residents, here are five apartment complexes available for less than $1,000 a month in the Golden State.

Huntington Apartments

This complex is located in downtown Los Angeles and you can find a studio for $725/month. The price includes the payment of all utilities except Wi-Fi, but there is internet access in the building. 7223 Willoughby, LLC

Here you can find studios for $800 a month and it is a building that has been renovated near the financial district of the city. The price includes gas, electricity, water and garbage services. Other amenities are a microwave and fridge along with a shared laundry facility outside of the unit.

423 West 8th St.

This property also offers studios that cost $950/month and the price includes gas, electricity, water, and garbage services. The unit includes a kitchenette and has on-site laundry facilities, and it’s also located right in the heart of downtown Los Angeles.

710 South Broadway

This apartment complex is located in downtown Los Angeles and has studios that go for $857 per month. All utilities are included for an additional $100 in the lease. Those interested can expect units that are fully furnished and have private bathrooms, with laundry services.

The Rayfield Apartments

In this apartment complex you can find studios for $995 a month and it is located in the Koreatown area. Utilities are also included in the monthly fee and the unit includes a refrigerator, sink, shower and laundry in the building.
