This air route is so short that the flight lasts less than a TikTok video
The shortest commercial flight in the world is so quick there’s not even enough time to listen to your favorite song from start to finish.

While some journeys drag out longer than you expected, others are practically over before they’ve begun. That’s the case for island-hopping residents in the Orkney Islands just off the north east coast of Scotland, where the world’s shortest commercial flight has been operating daily during most of the year since 1967.

Island hopping in the Orkneys
Loganair operates the Orkney Inter-Island route between Westray (WRY) and Papa Westray (PPW) - a distance of 1.7 miles (2.7 kilometers). The total scheduled flight time is just one and a half minutes (seven minutes including taxiing to and from the runway), but if you’re lucky to have a tail wind, you can arrived ahead of time.
There are two scheduled flights per day between Westray and Papa Westray - an eight-seater, twin turboprop Britten-Norman BN-2B-26 Islander ferrying passengers to and fro in next to no time.
The record for the fastest scheduled passenger flight - 53 seconds!
The record for the trip between the two islands is just 53 seconds, set by legendary Loganair pilot Stuart Linklater. Linklater last made the trip in May 2013, bringing to an end almost 25 years of service with the company.
For those with a fear of flying, there is also a ferry service with daily passenger service sailings during the tourist season. The journey takes a little longer than the plane - 25 minutes, and can be quite choppy if the weather is bad.
