This couple’s wedding included 200 seniors they met at work

Most of us, if we’re lucky enough, have four grandparents. Taylor Orlando has 200. And the newlywed wanted to make sure that they got to take part in her special day.

The dining services director at Baywinde Senior Living Center in Webster, New York got married this month to her husband Jason, whom she met when he worked there in a maintenance position. They had a second wedding ceremony at Baywinde to celebrate their union with the residents at the center.

“I’m excited to celebrate this big chapter of my life with them,” she said.

Honoring the connections made with “200 grandparents”

Taylor began working at Baywinde as a dining room server when she was 15. When she was a senior in high school she met Jason who was working in maintenance at the time.

“We just kinda crossed paths, connected there, and the rest is kinda history,” Taylor shared with RochesterFirst.

Over the eight years that she’s been at Baywinde, she has worked her way up from server to become the director of dining services. Over that time she has developed a bond with the residents and wanted to honor them.

She joked on her wedding day that her 200 grandparents, as she affectionately refers to the residents of Baywinde, would probably be taken aback when they saw her in her wedding attire to tie the knot.

“Being a dining director, I don’t look like this most of the time at work, so I think it’s going to throw them off a little bit seeing me done up,” Taylor remarked.
