Update:

The Emmy-winning show ‘Queer Eye’ is coming to an end after 10 seasons, shooting its “one last go ‘round” in Washington DC where the Fab Five will help a new group of heroes to “level up” their lives. The show’s five queer style experts, each with their unique expertise, will once again use “compassion, care, and plenty of Hip Tips” to coach deserving men and women through “one last round of unforgettable makeovers” and “heartfelt transformations.”

Netflix announced that its longest running non-scripted show will also “celebrate the show’s legacy and impact,” all while “spotlighting a group of Washingtonians.” Over the course of the show’s seven-year run it’s had an impact on over 80 everyday heroes, pampering them and giving them the tools to continue growing even after the Fab Five have left town.

Who are the Fab Five on Queer Eye?

The show focuses on helping the “heroes,” who are so-called in the show’s lingo because of “their ability to be so vulnerable – and get back on their feet after a setback,” according to CNN. The Fab Five provide the subject of each episode with advice on fashion, grooming, interior design, culture, and food and drink.

Since season 9, those areas of expertise have been handled by Tan France, Jonathan Van Ness, Jeremiah Brent, Karamo Brown, and Antoni Porowski, respectively. Previously Bobby Berk oversaw interior design but left the program after season 8 “with a heavy heart” saying: “It’s not been an easy decision to be at peace with, but a necessary one.”

France shared on an Instagram post about Queer Eye not continuing that “it’s been a long, beautiful journey we’ve been on, and I truly appreciate all of the love and support for our little show, that changed my life in ways I never thought possible.”

“As we begin our farewell season here on D.C I simply want to say thank you! Thank you!!!!!” he added.

“We are so excited to bring this finale to you, and excited for what’s next,” Van Ness posted on Instagram.

Why is the iconic Netflix show Queer Eyes ending?

The streamer didn’t announce why it’s decided not to keep going with the series that rebooted the beloved Bravo original in 2018. What’s on Netflix noted when the show was greenlit for a ninth season that it still had “more gas in the tank” despite falling viewership and not being in the global top ten since season 6.

The reasoning was due to Queer Eye’s numerous Emmy nominations and wins, currently 37 and 11, respectively. The self-improvement show, with 6 consecutive wins, holds the record for the most wins in the Outstanding Structured Reality Program category.

Additionally, Queer Eye has won multiple Critics Choice Real TV Awards and received a GLAAD Media Award for Outstanding Reality Program Netflix said in a press release.
