This is Biden’s position on a possible joint attack with Israel on Iran

The US president stated he was against an attack against Iran but has been steadfast in his commitment to support other Israeli invasions in the last year.

President Joe Biden’s stance on a potential joint attack with Israel on Iran is clear: he does not support military strikes against Iranian nuclear sites.

Following a recent escalation in tensions, where Iran launched a significant missile attack on Israel after the latters invasion of two neighbours in the last year, Biden emphasised that the US is committed to supporting Israel but believes that military action against Iran’s nuclear facilities is not the solution.

He stated, “The answer is no,” when asked about the possibility of such an attack, reinforcing his administration’s preference for diplomatic and economic measures over military intervention.

The Israeli invasion of Lebanon seems to be a huge foreign policy miscalculation by the US government. It has consistently given Israel cover in the United Nations, but Biden’s constant talk for ceasefires have been brushed aside. Now Bejamin Netanyahu’s Israel is on the cusp of a war with Iran.

In the wake of Iran’s missile strike, which he described as a significant escalation of regional violence, Biden convened discussions with G7 leaders and reaffirmed the US position of condemning Iran’s actions.

The administration is considering new sanctions against Iran while coordinating responses with Israeli officials. National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan indicated that there would be “severe consequences” for Iran’s actions, but these consequences do not include military strikes on Iranian nuclear sites.

The US military has been actively involved in assisting Israel’s defense against Iranian missiles, showcasing a commitment to Israel’s security without escalating to offensive operations against Iran.

What has Kamala Harris said?

Biden’s vice-president and the Democrat nominee described Iran as a “destabilizing, dangerous force in the Middle East,” adding: “I will always ensure Israel has the ability to defend itself against Iran and Iran-backed terrorist militias.”

Israel has likely killed 186,000 Palestinians since their invasion of Gaza a year ago.
