Tornado in Oklahoma leaves two dead, including a baby, and massive property damage

A bitter storm triggered several tornadoes that hurtled through four of the heartland states, killing two people including a baby in Oklahoma.

Severe weather battered middle America over the weekend, triggering a number of tornadoes that devastated four of the heartland states. Savage storms are threatening to affect more than 20 million residents of Arkansas, Illinois, Kansas, Louisiana, Missouri, Oklahoma, and Texas.

Emergency officials in Hughes County, Oklahoma confirmed that a baby was one of the two people killed in storms that hit the town of Holdenville, southeast of Oklahoma City.

Search operations and damage assessment underway

A brutal tornado touched down near Holdenville, home to about 6,000 people, late Saturday in the middle of a tornado outbreak in the state.

County officials said at least four other people were hurt in the storms, and added that they are still searching for victims and assessing the damage the storms have caused.
