A man named Greg was not inside of the Donald Trump rally himself, but had a setup outside to listen to the event. He told BBC News that he actually saw the shooter and alerted the police. He said they didn’t do anything about it until after the shots had been fired.

The witness said he and his friends saw the shooter climbing onto a rooftop with a “rifle of some sort” just moments before several shots were fired at the Trump rally, of which one seemed to graze Trump’s ear, and left another audience member dead and severely wounded another.

“I’m thinking to myself ‘Why is Trump still speaking, why have they not pulled him off the stage’... the next thing you know, five shots ring out,” he said.

“We noticed the guy bear-crawling up the roof of the building beside us, 50ft away from us,” he said. “He had a rifle, we could clearly see a rifle. We’re pointing at him, the police are down there running around on the ground, we’re like ‘Hey man, there’s a guy on the roof with a rifle’... and the police did not know what was going on.”

Officials have confirmed that the shooter has been shot dead. Greg told the BBC that he saw that happen. “They [Secret Service agents] crawled up on the roof, they had their guns pointed at him, made sure he was dead,” he said. “He was dead, and that was it - it was over.”
