Donald Trump and Kamala Harris faced off in a presidential debate on Tuesday, which was hosted by ABC News and moderated by David Muir, anchor and editor-in-chief of “World News Tonight,” and Linsey Davis, host of “Prime” on ABC News Live.

Similar to the CNN debate between Trump and then-candidate Joe Biden, this one featured a format that allowed the candidates to maximize their time, as the candidates were not allowed to interrupt each other.

This resulted in more talk time for the candidates, although Trump spoke more: 43 minutes to Harris’ 38. On several occasions, both rambled and did not directly answer questions from the moderators. They also shared false or biased data, some more blatant than others.

The results of their performance have been reflected in the post-debate polls on voting intention. In this debate, several topics of national interest were addressed, such as the economy and inflation, reproductive rights, the migration crisis, the 2021 attack on the Capitol, the 2020 presidential elections, the war between Israel and Hamas, as well as that between Russia and Ukraine, and the health plans that both have for the country.

Here’s how the polls are going after the debate: Who has the lead, Trump or Harris?

According to several polls, Harris won the debate. The CNN poll showed Harris winning the debate 63% to 37% among debate viewers. The YouGov poll showed her winning 54% to 31% among registered voters who watched at least part of the debate, with 14% unsure.

After her performance in the event, Harris leads Trump by three points, according to the pollster SoCal Strategies. On Sept. 11, the New York Times shows that the Democratic candidate leads Trump by two points.

Will there be a second presidential debate between Trump and Harris?

Last month, Michael Tyler, communications director for the Harris-Walz 2024 campaign, said Trump’s campaign had agreed to his proposal for three debates, two presidential debates, one in September and one in October, and one vice presidential debate.

However, the former president has since changed his mind. Trump has said he will not participate in another debate because he believes he did very well in the debate against Harris.

“When a boxer is defeated or knocked out, he stands up and yells, ‘I DEMAND A REMATCH, I DEMAND A REMATCH!’ Well, it’s no different with a debate. All the polls show us WINNING, in one case, 92-8, so why would he do a rematch?” he wrote on Truth Social. It’s unclear which poll shows him 92-8 ahead.
