United Airlines launches new international flights: cities, dates and prices

United Airlines announced its “biggest international expansion ever” with direct flights to eight new cities around the world starting May 2025.

United Airlines announced its new summer flight schedule for 2025 along with its “biggest international expansion ever.” The carrier which already has the most flights across the Atlantic will be adding six more non-stop routes to Europe, five of those no other US carrier serves, and one to Africa.

It will also begin three new direct routes from Tokyo, two of the destinations no other US carrier serves, allowing travelers to connect seamlessly from five hub locations in the continental United States.

United Airlines has not put out a price list for the new routes yet, but service will begin in May 2025 in time for the summer travel season. Below are the new direct routes that United Airlines will be flying:

New routes in 2025

Newark/New York to:

  • Nuuk, Greenland 
  • Palermo, Italy 
  • Bilbao, Spain 
  • Madeira Island, Portugal 
  • Faro, Portugal

Washington D.C./Dulles to: 

  • Dakar, Senegal 
  • Nice, France
  • Venice, Italy

Tokyo-Narita to:

  • Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia
  • Kaohsiung, Taiwan
  • Koror, Palau

The summer expansion unlocks a wide range of experiences from reindeer sleigh rides, camel racing and seeing sunshine at midnight to bucket list attractions like the Guggenheim Museum and Italy’s largest opera house,” said the airline in a press statement.

The largest airline in the world will have its largest transatlantic schedule in the summer of 2025, with the increase in its weekly flights to its other European destinations along with the new ones, it will have more than 760 weekly flights. And travelers will have more time to spend as United Airlines will have earlier start dates next summer.

Senior Vice President of Global Network Planning and Alliances, Patrick Quayle, said “No other airline gives customers nonstop access to as many unique international destinations and experiences from the U.S. as United.”

“Our network provides the most choice and variety for our customers, whether they are looking for a relaxing seaside getaway, once-in-a-lifetime adventure travel or to explore some of the most vibrant urban escapes across the globe,” he added.
