On September 10, the first presidential debate was held between Donald Trump and Kamala Harris, both official candidates of their parties after accepting the nominations at the Republican and Democratic National Conventions, respectively.

The event took place at the National Constitution Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The first debate between Trump and Harris was hosted by ABC News in a format that allowed the candidates to maximize their time, as there was no audience and the candidates were not allowed to interrupt each other, as both microphones were off during each other’s participation.

This debate was moderated by ‘World News Tonight’ anchor and editor-in-chief David Muir and ABC News Live’s ‘Prime’ anchor Linsey Davis.

In this first debate, several issues of national interest were addressed. Both candidates were questioned, initially, about the economy and inflation, reproductive rights, the migration crisis, the 2021 attack on the Capitol, the 2020 presidential elections, Hamas and Israel, as well as Russia and Ukraine and health.

Will there be a second presidential debate between Trump and Harris?

Last month, Michael Tyler, communications director for the Harris-Walz 2024 campaign, said that Donald Trump's campaign had agreed to his proposal for three debates, two presidential and one vice presidential.

“Assuming Donald Trump shows up on September 10th to debate Vice President Harris, then Governor Walz will see JD Vance on October 1st and the American people will have another opportunity to see the Vice President [Harris] and Donald Trump on the debate stage in October,” he shared at the time.

While Trump is looking to hold a debate on Fox News, there has also been talk of a second debate on NBC News. However, a second debate between Trump and Harris has not been officially confirmed.
