Video: The Popocateptl volcano in Mexico shooting lava bombs
The Popocateptl volcano in Mexico has decreased in activity, but the yellow Phase 3 warning still remains as the volcano launches lava bombs near the crater.
Once again, the cameras from Webcams de Mexico have captured the Popocatépetl volcano in action. Although the activity from the volcano has significantly decreased, it is still continuing to emit ash, tremors, minor explosions, and launch lava bombs near the crater. We recommend using headphones to view the volcanic activity.
The Popocatépetl Scientific Advisory Committee reported in previous days that the most probable scenario, in the short term, is that an activity similar to this will continue:
- High frequency tremor and variable amplitude
- Small to moderate and occasionally large explosions
- Ash emissions that possibly reach more distant populations
- Incandescent fragments within 12 kilometer exclusion radius
Yellow Phase 3 warning remains in place
Although the activity has decreased, keep being vigilant in regards to the volcano. Continue with the prevention measures and remember that climbing Popocatépetl is not a sport.
