Vivek Ramaswamy drops out: Who is still in the Republican Party presidential race?

Just three candidates remain after the crucial Iowa caucus meet on Monday with Donald Trump cementing his number one spot.

Billionaire Vivek Ramaswamy is the latest candidate for the Republican presidential nomination to drop out. Depsite a big effort to remain relevant in the race, he never came close to challenging front runner Donald Trump and was projected to finish plum last in the Iowa caucus vote.

“As of this moment, we are going to suspend this presidential campaign,” Ramaswamy told his supporters and reporters. He immediately pledged his support to Trump.

Which candidates still remain in the race?

Following Ramaswamy’s departure, the list of Republicans seeking Party selection is down to just three candidates, who are as follows:

Donald Trump

Former president Donald Trump commands a huge polling lead over his rivals. As of 15 January, Trump boasts 63.1% support of Republican voters and claimed more than 51% of the votes in the Iowa caucus..

Ron DeSantis

The Governor of Florida, Ron DeSantis, kicked off his campaign in May of this year with significant support from voters which has since withered away. However, he managed to just sneak ahead of Nikki Haley for second place with 21% of the vote.

This just about keeps him in contention.

Nikki Haley

The former Governor of South Carolina, Nikki Haley, announced her candidacy for the 2023 Republican presidential nomination in mid-February. Currently, she is jostling with Ron DeSantis for second preference and had been ahead of DeSantis in national polling before the Iowa reuslt.
