Walmart+ members get a new streaming benefit this September: Here’s what to know
Walmart+ adds Peacock to its perks, letting members choose between it and Paramount+ starting Sept. 15—with no price hike.
Walmart announced this week that it will be expanding perks for Walmart+ members, in what seems to be an effort to compete with Amazon Prime.
The retail giant will now offer Walmart+ members a choice between Paramount+—available to all members since Septemebr 2022—or NBC’s streaming service, Peacock.
Deepak Maini, the senior vice president of Walmart+, touted the addition of Peacock as another example of Walmart adding “even more value and more choice to [their] membership, without raising the price.”
When will Walmart+ members be able to access Peacock?
Walmart says the change will take effect on September 15, 2025, allowing members to choose which streaming service they’d like access to. Users will be able to change between the streaming services every 90 days.
Their Walmart+ membership will include the Premium version of Peacock, which offers ads but allows subscribers to watch live sports and events, as well as stream movies and Peacock Originals.
Paramount+ Essentials costs $7.99/month ($59.99/year), while Peacock Premium is a bit more expensive, priced at $10.99 ($109.99/year).
If you are already a subscriber to either Paramount+ or Peacock, the additions to Walmart+ might make the subscription service more attractive. A Walmart+ membership costs $12.95/month (or $98/year), slightly less than Amazon Prime’s $14.99/month (or $139/year).
Other benefits include free shipping on all orders, early access to sales and deals—including those offered on Black Friday—and pet care services through Pawp. Walmart+ members get on-demand access to veterinary professionals, available 24/7, with unlimited visits included.
