The National Weather Service has issued an alert in Texas due to a series of severe electrical storms that will hit the region.

“Widespread showers and storms currently sweeping across North Texas. Robust cells will contain small hail, gusty winds, and frequent lightning. The potential for severe weather will increase as we move into the afternoon”, read one of the NWS alerts via Twitter.

Alert in Texas for strong electrical storms: How long it will last and affected areas

The areas most affected by the storm will be Dallas and Fort Worth. According to official information from the NWS, a widespread storm has already hit the north of the state since Wednesday morning, April 26, and will intensify in the afternoon.

.According to meteorologists, bad weather will prevail until Wednesday night and into the early hours of Thursday, April 27, before giving way to partly sunny weather. By Friday, April 28, there are few chances of showers, while on Saturday the 29th and Sunday the 30th, mild weather will return completely.

The NWS recommends that residents of affected areas have a safety plan and locate possible shelters in case severe weather worsens, as there is the possibility of flooding and tornado formation due to strong gusts of wind.
