Warning! Oliva Cigars recalls over 60,000 slim lighters due to fire and child hazard risks
Over 60,000 promotional lighters are being recalled by Oliva Cigars due to safety violations, posing risks of burns and fire hazards, especially for children.
Oliva Cigars has issued a public statement announcing the massive recall of its promotional Slim lighters due to a safety system failure that makes them dangerous if they end up in children’s hands. This issue arises from non-compliance with federal safety regulations in the production of this model. As a result, the company must withdraw all lighters not yet distributed to consumers as they pose a potential risk of burns and fire hazards.
Details of the lighter recall
The recall affects lighters distributed as promotional items between August 2022 and July 2024. Most of these lighters were handed out for free in cigar lounges as part of the brand’s promotional campaigns.
It’s important to note that the main manufacturer of this product is Wenzhou LingShuo Smoking Accessories Co. Ltd., based in China. The lighters feature the brand name printed on one side and come in white, brown, or red, with all models measuring approximately 3 inches in length.
What should consumers do if they have one?
The company urges all users to immediately and properly dispose of these lighters in an environmentally friendly way. Oliva Cigars is already contacting wholesalers and retailers to ensure the proper removal of any remaining lighters from the market.
Are there any reported incidents?
So far, there have been no significant reports of incidents involving the use of Slim lighters. However, the recall is mandatory as a preventive measure, given the serious health risks if an accident occurs.
This recall highlights the importance of ensuring all promotional products meet established safety standards to protect consumers and the general public.
