Watch out for price increases! This is how Trump’s tariffs will affect your pocket according to billionaire Mark Cuban
A key supporter of the Democrats failed White hosue push has had his say on his opponent’s plans. It’s not surprising what he said.
Billionaire entrepreneur Mark Cuban is sounding the alarm on the potential economic impact of Donald Trump’s proposed tariffs, warning that they could lead to significant price hikes for American consumers. Cuban, a vocal critic of Trump’s economic policies, and an ally of Kamala Harris, argues that the mere anticipation of these tariffs is already causing economic strain.
“Every company that imports from China is taking all the cash they can muster, and buying up as much as they can and stuffing it in a warehouse, in anticipation of the tariffs creating accelerated demand for imports,” he said.
He argues that Trump’s understanding of tariffs is flawed, pointing out that it’s not China that pays for these tariffs, but American consumers who will bear the brunt of the cost.
“Because cash is relatively expensive, and it costs money to store inventory, those companies will increase prices as if they had paid the expected higher tariffs,” he continued.
“This is all happening right now.”
Prodcus that will be most affected
The impact of these tariffs would be far-reaching, affecting a wide range of consumer goods. Electronics, in particular, could see substantial price increases. The Consumer Technology Association estimates that laptops and tablets could see price hikes of up to 45%, while smartphones could experience an average increase of $213 per device.
The Peterson Institute for International Economics estimates that the proposed tariffs could cost the average American household more than $2,600 a year.
