What are gas prices in the US and each state? Today 28 June 2022

As the Fourth of July weekend approaches gas prices continue to tick down providing drivers with some relief after national average topped $5 per gallon.

While some states like New York have already suspended their gas tax to give drivers a discount others have decided to send certain residents a gas tax rebate to help with the inflated cost at the pump. California Governor Gavin Newsom and the State Legislature have reached a tentative deal for the state budget that would send 23 million residents a gas tax rebate potentially worth up to $350.

Nationally, President Biden called on Congress last week to implement a federal gas tax holiday for the next three months. But there has been no action on that proposal nor legislation introduced to deliver US taxpayers a federal gas tax rebate. In the meantime Americans will have to patiently wait as the price of gas gradually decreases after going over $5 per gallon on average nationally.

With the Fourth of July weekend approaching, experts are offering tips to find the cheapest gas while traveling to celebrations. “It’s usually best not use the stations right along the interstate,” said Ellen Edmonds, manager of AAA public relations, when speaking to CNN Travel. Instead, “drive a few miles drive down the road. Look for residential areas or remote rural areas.”

According to the AAA Gas Prices website, which is a public service of the United States of America’s largest motoring and leisure travel membership organization, the following price information is made available. Every day up to 120,000 stations are surveyed in cooperation with WEX Inc. for unmatched statistical reliability.
