Elf
One family favorite is ‘Elf,’ starring Will Ferrell as Buddy, who learns he is not, in fact, an Elf but instead a human whose family lives in New York City.
Buddy visits the Big Apple to reconnect with his father and keeps audiences laughing as one of Santa’s helpers adjusts to the real world. The 2003 classic has earned an eighty-five percent rating on Rotton Tomatoes and is considered a must-watch holiday movie by many.
Those with an Amazon Prime or HBO Max subscription can steam Elf from their device of choice.

Bad Santa
Turns out, 2003 was a big year for Christmas movies, considering it also featured the release of ‘Bad Santa,’ which was considered a massive commercial success during its release. The raunchy comedy stars Billy Bob Thornton, Tony Cox, Lauren Graham, and the late Bernie Mac, telling the story of a conman who takes a job as a mall Santa to take advantage of holiday shoppers and retailers. Unlike ‘Elf,’ ‘Bad Santa’ may not be appropriate for the entire family.
‘Bad Santa can’ be streamed by Hulu Premium, Paramount+, and Showtime members, with other viewing options available for those with other subscriptions.
Christmas Vacation
National Lampoon’s ‘Christmas Vacation’ became a holiday staple after its release in 1989. For over thirty years, the Griswolds’ disastrous vacation has kept families laughing and soaking up the Christmas cheer. The movie stars comedian Chevy Chase, as well as actors Beverly D’Angelo, and Randy Quaid, and can be streamed on HBO Max and Amazon Prime.
While in the theaters, this movie took in more than $73 million dollars, nearly three times the $25 budget given to the production team to make the film.
For those looking for a romantic comedy, Netflix’s ‘Holidate’ or ‘The Holiday’ starring Cameron Diaz, Kate Winslet, Jack Black, and Jude Law, are great options.
