Number 5
In 2014, Apple released a holiday commercial that warmed many hearts. The advert features a young woman who stumbles across a record made by her grandmother decades ago, who had dedicated the songs to her husband, who was overseas for the holidays serving in the military.
The granddaughter uses her MacBook to re-record a duet with her grandmother’s original audio that she gives to her as a Christmas gift. It becomes clear that her husband has passed away and that she is deeply impacted by hearing her song after so many years. Not a dry eye was seen after this holiday favorite!
Number 4
Looking for a laugh this holiday season? British Santa has you covered. Santa’s reindeer are disappointed that house after house has neglected to leave carrots. So, Santa makes a stop at the Golden Arches to get his hungry helpers a snack. The McDonald’s staff is surprised to see Santa, but in the end, they get him the carrots the reindeer need to finish their delivery.
Number 3
Frosty the Snowkid by Campbell’s is a classic around the holidays. The commercial begins with a snowman coming inside as it begins to snow. The snowman sits down to a warm bowl of Campbell’s chicken noodle soup.
As he eats, the snow begins to melt, and it turns out there was a little boy under all that snow the whole time. For those looking to stay warm, soup is never a bad option!
Number 2
The number two spot goes to a 2020 holiday commercial released by the United States Postal Service. Between Thanksgiving and Christmas, USPS expects to deliver over twelve billion cards, letters, and packages. The commercial aired last year when the postal agency broke records for packages delivered as many families chose to separate apart.
Number 1
Picking the number one commercial was no easy feat.
But far and away, one commercial represents the holiday spirit and features one of its most ardent supporters: children. Sainsbury, the second-largest supermarket chain in the United Kingdom, released this commercial titled “The Big Night” in 2018, which follows the live performance of school children singing the song “You Get What You Give” by New Radicals.
The song ends with one child dressed as a star, pulled to the top of the large Christmas tree, singing the famous line, “Can’t forget, we only get what we give,” an important message for the holiday season.
