If you are dreading the end of summer, the prospect of saving while shopping could cheer you up. With only a few days left before Labor Day, stores have already begun offering deals ahead of the weekend to get a head start on sales.
The last long weekend of summer is considered an important day for shoppers, who can get considerable discounts on certain items. You will likely find left-over clothing from back-to-school promos, as well as discounts on grills and other items used for entertaining outdoors, such as patio furniture.
Other big-ticket products that come with huge discounts are mattresses, furniture, and major appliances.
When do Labor Day sales start?
Establishments often begin offering discounts on their products about two weeks before Labor Day itself. The deals often run until the end of the holiday, or the day after.
However, some stores hold sale events much longer. It’s important to check with the shops you intend to buy from to find out if you will have enough time to make your purchases.

Amazon
The online retail giant is giving discounts of up to 40% on a wide array of products such as Halloween items, back-to-school necessities, and electronics.
Best Buy
The electronics store is offering major price cuts on appliances for the Labor Day weekend. Discounts of up to 50% are applied on washers, dryers, and refrigerators beginning Aug. 30. Big appliances get free delivery.
eBay
eBay is giving substantial discounts on electronics brands, including Sony, Samsung, LG, Lenovo, HP, and Western Digital. Use the code “LABORDAYOFF” to avail of an additional 20% off.
Home Depot
The home improvement store has already launched its sale and slashed prices of more than 5,000 items. The event runs through Monday, Sept. 2.

LG
If you’re looking for home appliances, LG is giving discounts of up to 30% off on dishwashers, washers, dryers, and microwaves, among others.
Lowe’s
Lowe’s is offering up to 47% off on home appliances, grills, and tools. The deals run through Sept. 4, though those offered on appliances will be valid through Sept. 11.

If you’re looking to redecorate your home, Pottery Barn’s Labor Day sale is giving up to 60% off on many of the company’s items, from furniture to decorative accent pillows.

Outdoorsy types can get coveted items at up to 40% off, through Sept. 2. REI members can receive 20% off one outlet item by using the code “SAVEOUTLET”. Avoid shipping fees by shopping at your local store, though purchases of $60 or more will receive free delivery.
Samsung
Samsung’s Labor Day sale is perfect if you’re looking to buy major appliances. You can save up to $1,300 on certain refrigerator models, up to $1,300 on laundry combos, and up to $900 on induction ranges.
Walmart
The retail giant offers impressive discounts of up to 80% off on more than a thousand products. If you purchase items worth $35 or more, you get free shipping.
