Summer has begun, school is out and the time for going on vacation has arrived. As it is a holiday season, young people who are still studying often look for temporary jobs, while those who have graduated from college are now looking for their first permanent job.

According to last year's figures from the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), the youth workforce typically grows sharply between April and July of each year.

According to the BLS, 55% of young people (people ages 16 to 24) were employed in the United States in July 2023. The youth workforce grew by 2.2 million, or 10.4%, from April (21.5 million) to July (23.7 million) last year.
