What are the odds of winning the Mega Millions jackpot?

The jackpot surpassed the $1 billion mark on July 26 when no ticket matched all six numbers. Today’s winner will receive $747.2 million in cash if all six numbers match.

Today’s winning numbers are: 13, 36, 45, 57, and 67 with a Mega Ball of 14.

The last jackpot that was more than $1 billion was won in Michigan on Jan. 22, 2021 and was slightly higher than today’s prize. The Mega Millions record jackpot was in South Carolina on Oct. 23, 2018 and totalled $1.537 billion, the world’s largest lottery prize won on a single ticket.

“Someone is going to win,” says Pat McDonald, the Ohio Lottery Director and current Lead Director of the Mega Millions Consortium. “Seeing the jackpot build over a period of months and reaching the billion-dollar mark is truly breathtaking. We encourage customers to keep playing in balance and enjoy the ride.”

The Mega Millions website crashed Tuesday night due to an overload of traffic, more than any in the history of Although no ticket matched the six numbers on Tuesday, there were a total of 6,775,330, winning tickets at all prize levels. Nine tickets were just a number away from winning and one in Ohio was worth $3 million because it included the optional Megaplier (a $1 extra purchase available in most states). The other eight Match 5 tickets were worth $1 million, two each were sold in New Jersey and New York, plus one each in California, Florida, Illinois and Ohio.

Other Mega Millions jackpot winners in 2022

Since the jackpot was last won in Tennessee on April 15, there have been 42 winning tickets worth $1 million or more. Those big prizes have been won in 17 states across the country: Arizona, Arkansas, California, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Texas and Virginia.

In 2022 four Mega Millions jackpots have been won in addition to the most recent Tennessee win at $20 million on April 15.
