After over 40 straight draws without a jackpot winner, more than one player landed the top Powerball prize on Saturday, earning a share of a historic payout.

According to organizers of the U.S. lottery, two tickets, sold in Missouri and Texas, will split the $1.787 billion jackpot, which is the second-largest ever in American lottery history.

The five white balls were 11, 23, 44, 61, 62, and the red Powerball was 17. The Power Play was x2.

Each holder of a winning Powerball ticket will have the option of claiming a $893.5 million “annuity option” - paid in 29 rising annual instalments - or a smaller, lump-sum payment of $410.3 million.

When was the last Powerball jackpot win?

This is the first time the jackpot has been won since May 31, when a single ticket in California earned a $205 million pot. The run of 42 consecutive draws without a winning ticket is a Powerball record.

Since the end of May, the jackpot had climbed to a total only surpassed in U.S. lottery history by the $2.04bn prize scooped by California man Edwin Castro in November 2022.

The next Powerball draw will take place on Monday, September 8, with a $20 million estimated jackpot. The cash value will be $9.2 million.
