Donald Trump closed the four-day Republican National Convention with a speech formally accepting his nomination as the party’s presidential candidate.
On the fourth day of the Republican National Convention held at the Fiserv Forum in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Donald Trump gave his first speech after the assassination attempt on Saturday, July 13.
After UFC President Dana White introduced him as “a real American bad ass”, Trump walked onto the stage with his ear still bandaged from being grazed by a bullet.
Speaking in a solemn tone, a far cry from his signature pugnacious manner, he formally accepted his nomination as the party’s presidential candidate.

He went on to describe his experience on Saturday and talked about how he felt when the would-be assassin shot him. He said it would be the last time he would talk about the ordeal because it was “too painful to tell.”
“I’m not supposed to be here tonight... I’m here by the grace of almighty God,” Trump said. He said that despite all the blood at the scene, he felt safe “because I had God on my side.”
The former president then asked for a moment of silence to honor Corey Comperatore, the former fire chief who was killed by the gunfire at the campaign rally.

Trump calls for unity
Trump called for unity saying the division in the country “must be healed.” “I am running to be president for all of America, not half of America,” he said.
He also addressed the cases facing him, saying that if the Democrats want to unite the country, they should drop the witch hunt.” He said that contrary to claims by his critics that he is a threat to democracy, “I am the one saving democracy for the people of our country.”
The 78-year-old spoke on what he intended to do if he returns to the White House. Among his promises was finishing the wall he had so famously promised to build the first time he ran for president. He also said he would stop the war in Ukraine and Israel, which he said would not have happened if he were president.
Trump’s speech wraps up the upbeat four-day Republican National Convention, which saw the GOP uniting behind their presidential candidate after the attempt on his life.
