What do we know so far about the upcoming Bambi horror movie?
ITN Studios and Jagged Edge Productions are set to remark the Disney classic, Bambi, but this time, the young deer becomes the predator not the prey.
A twist on the Disney classic Bambi could hit theaters... but this one may not be appropriate for the whole family.
Who is involved?
Entertainment Weekley has confirmed that ITN Studios and Jagged Edge Productions are working on a new film, ‘Bambi: The Reckoning,’ a horror spin on the beloved cartoon.
Director Rhys Franke-Waterfield, who is just weeks away from releasing a film with a similar premise, ‘Winne-The-Pooh: Blood and Honey,’ joins the team as a producer on the ‘Bambi’ remake. Franke-Waterfield is also directing the highly anticipated ‘Peter Pan’s Neverland Nightmare,’ another film from Jagged Edge Productions.
Scott Jeffery will be sitting in the director’s seat and, when describing the project, told EW, “The film will be an incredibly dark retelling of the 1928 story we all know and love.” The team is “finding inspiration” in the original, with Jeffery telling fans that they should be prepared to see Bambi as “a vicious killing machine that lurks in the wilderness.” Jeffrey is known for other horror films, including ‘The Bad Nun’ and ‘The Curse of Humpty Dumpty.’
With no other major details yet to be released, horror fans will have to wait and see. For those wondering how these directors got their hands on the rights necessary to make these movies, the reason is simple: both Bambi and Winne-The-Pooh entered the public domain this year after decades of ownership by Disney.
